Using flat snap hooks on these wheel straps enables a more secure anchor point for a semi-permanent fit.
Just like our wheel strap kit with claw hooks these kits include a pretty standard ratchet lashing and a choker strap.
Length wise the ratchet lashing has a 4 metre maximum length and the choker strap has a half meter effective working length (EWL).
The ratchet lashing has a standard ratchet handle which is easy to operate. This is affixed to the shorter strap and will have a flat snap hook at the opposite end. The longer strap has a snap hook at one end and nothing at the other, the free end is the part which is used to thread through the choker and subsequently back into the ratchet mechanism.
The flat snap hooks enable quick and easy attachment but will remain securely attached until you depress the safety latch to remove the hook. This is a much safer option to the typical claw hook design.
The choker strap is essentially made up from a round lifting sling. These are endless and when laid flat the EWL is 0.5 metres (or 1 meter circumference). The sling is wrapped with a wear sleeve, leaving a soft eye at each end. The ratchet strap long piece passes through one eye, around the back of the wheel and then passed through the other choker strap eye before being threaded into the ratchet handle to tighten and tension. The choker sits at the front of the wheel.
These wheel straps also come with claw hooks (see here) however there are numerous other types of load securing equipment available at Lifting Gear Direct. Cam buckle straps, standard ratchet lashings, lever or ratchet load binders with chains and hooks. Towing equipment can also be provided. We have our own facilities where we can manufacture custom straps and lashings with almost any fitting so give us a call if this custom option would better suit your task.
